Picking up where the momentum left off, award-winning and multi-gold recording artist Kristina Maria is looking forward to sharing a new, authentic and refreshing side to herself though independent projects and songwriting for other artists. Discovered by Vito Luprano, who famously worked alongside Celine Dion, Kristina first catapulted to stardom with her JUNO nominated debut album, “Tell the World.” Hit singles including “Let’s Play” and “Co-Pilot” charted on numerous Billboard Canada charts, reaching both Gold and Platinum status, and generating over 500,000 digital sales in Canada. The success of her album didn’t go unnoticed, leading to multiple SOCAN awards. After an incredibly successful debut, and multiple hit singles under her belt Kristina has decided to pursue her career independently after leaving her label in 2017. Kristina is looking forward to moving in a new direction where she’s been able to hone her craft, refine her talents and explore her musical range. While she’s set to debut a new creative sound and personal image, it’s still all backed up with the same heart and hustle that fans fell for in the first place.
Kristina first broke into the music scene back in 2010 with her debut album “Tell the World” which immediately made her Canada’s pop darling. Working with the industry’s top key players, she co-wrote 11 of the 14 tracks on her album alongside the biggest writers and producers in contemporary pop including Kristia Lundin (The Backstreet Boys,‘N Sync), Savan Kotecha (Ariana Grande, Jessie J), Mark Fiest (Beyonce), Aaron Reid (Travis Scott, Vinny Cha$e), Negin Djafari (James Arthur, Fifth Harmony), JC Chasez (N’Sync), Billy Steinberg (Jojo, Demi Lovato Celine Dion), BC Jean (Beyonce), Anshu AM Sharma (Cash Money Records). The hard work and long hours put into the album quickly paid off for the young artist. For the next two years or so, Kristina’s hit singles like “Let’s Play”, “Co-Pilot”, “Karma”, and “Our Song Comes On” dominated airwaves across the country. Her debut album generated over 500,000 digital sales in Canada, earning a combination of four platinum and gold sales, which later resulted in multiple SOCAN awards and a Juno nomination for Best Pop Album of the Year in 2013. In 2014, Kristina later followed up with another successful hit “Move Like a Soldier”, written in collaboration with critically acclaimed writers Kristian Lundin, Savan Kotecha (Carrie Underwood, Christina Aguilera, One Direction) and John Amatiello (Britney Spears, Ace of Base, Backstreet Boys), which ultimately peaked in the TOP 25 on Canadian charts.
Besides topping multiple musical charts, the success of Kristina’s first album landed her over 100 radio, TV and print features both across Canada and around the world on outlets such as CHLOE Magazine, CTV, CBC, MUCH Music and The Live Sessions UK. Kristina also hit the road and toured with some of the world’s biggest artists and performers including Hedley, MAGIC!, Ellie Goulding, Tegan and Sara, Corneille, Karl Wolf, Mia Martina, JRDN and Blueprint Cru (America’s Best Dance Crew Finalists). In 2013, alongside featured artist Corneille, Kristina performed live in Morocco at the Concert for Tolerance in an international effort to promote open-mindedness with an impressive crowd of over 200,000 concert goers. But it was her unforgettable 2012 performance on the Celine Dion Special that proved to be a personal career highlight for Kristina. She performed an original rendition of Celine’s “The Power of Love” for the powerhouse songstress herself — a fond memory she’s unlikely to never forget!
Kristina hasn’t looked back since and as she gears up for the release of her new music, she looks forward to picking up where she left off except with a new, innovative musical sound. Perfectly intertwining elements of hip-hop and R&B and setting foot in the EDM genre, she’s reinvented her signature pop sound to one that better reflects the type of artist she is today.
